LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Investigators believe a woman shot and killed her ex-boyfriend after he broke into her home and put a gun to the head of her current boyfriend, according to Las Vegas police.

The incident was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Seasons Avenue, near Eastern Avenue and the 215 Beltway, said Lt. Ray Spencer with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The woman called 911 saying her ex-boyfriend was breaking into the home and had shattered a window, he said. Glass could be heard breaking in the background of the 911 call.

The man broke a second window and got into the home while the woman was on the phone with 911, Spencer said. The woman was armed with a handgun and the ex-boyfriend left.

Moments later, the ex-boyfriend returned with his own gun. The preliminary investigation indicates he "put the gun to the boyfriend's head," and the woman fired one round, hitting the ex-boyfriend. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Spencer.

Three school-age children inside the home at the time of the break-in and shooting were unharmed.
