Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny sentenced to nine years in jail

Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny has been sentenced to nine years in a maximum security jail, according to Russian media. He is currently serving a two and half year sentence in a detention centre.

Navalny has been convicted on charges of embezzlement & contempt of court. He has been also fined 1.2 million rubles (roughly $11,500).
