Evidence of Revision 3, Hoover and Other

This is the third of a six-part series looking at events in the US in the 60s and 70s. The title Evidence of Revision is an indication of the way the narratives were being changed as they unfolded. An alternative title is The Assassination of America. The films make extensive use of picture-in-picture display, and have a very fine ambient music soundtrack.

This episode continues in more documentary format by looking at the life and career of J Edgar Hoover, and what hold the Mafia had over him which prevented organised crime from even being recognised, let alone pursued, for over a decade. All that changed when the Kennedys came to power, with Robert Kennedy as the new Attorney General, alongside the President. It also exposes how Hoover in turn had power over JFK owing to his womanising to a point which bordered on blackmail.

In the later part of this episode we hear from witnesses who were on the fringes of the action during the critical days in November 1963, and what they saw and heard, which brings damning evidence against Lyndon B Johnson, the man who gained the most out of the assassination, becoming the 36th president.

We find out much more about the corruption of LBJ throughout his political career, and how he may have been involved in many more murders that previously known about. After the killing it was LBJ, and his friends in Texas, who organised the cover up, and then controlled the story about the killing.
