Feral hogs originate from Europe and have occupied North America since the 16th century. Every passing year wild pig populations have grown steadily. As of 2008, an estimated population of about 4 million feral hogs caused over 800 million dollars worth of property damage alone in the United States. In Texas the hunting season never ends as feral hogs are considered varmints. This brief presentation contains video segments and photographs collected from hunting Russian boar and feral pigs at Boar Creek Ranch in early March of 2012. Boar Creek Ranch is a privately owned and operated hunting ranch located in Tennessee Colony Texas. The Russian Boar is a keen and resilient adversary that will test your skills and determination. Well known for their nocturnal habits, keen sense of smell, acute hearing, thick cartilage plating covering the shoulders, and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth all add to the challenge and allure of harvesting a trophy boar. Our trip proves to be successful as we braved inclement weather conditions and brought back both trophies for the wall and plenty of mouth watering pork for the freezer that we can enjoy all year long.
