A man with epilepsy who is afraid of falling asleep for fear of dying goes to McDonald's every evening to help him relax.

David Neale sits inside the fast-food restaurant for up to four hours, drinking coffee and chatting with staff to calm his nerves.

The 46-year-old has suffered from sleep-related epilepsy since he was seven which can cause violent seizures in the middle of the night.

For Mr Neale, the idea of nodding off to sleep and never waking up again is a "horror of a thought" which keeps him awake.

But he has come up with a solution to help overcome his fears and prepare for bed which involves spending time at the McDonald's in Gillingham, Kent.
