10/23/2021 Robbie Gallo of Gallo Tree Service. Rob started his career trimming trees, when he went to work for a friend and fellow surfer name Roger. Rob started as a groundman and eventually started trimming trees under Roger’s supervision. His first six months climbing, he only used a handsaw. Here he is close to 50 years later and pushing 70 years of age Pruning a large white oak tree in Bayview Oaks in the town of Southampton. I’ve had the pleasure of working with five different tree men over the course of 30+ years. Robbie Gallo is by far the best tree pruner I have ever seen. I met Rob after transferring from my Bronx firehouse to Queens. He worked in my battalion in FDNY Engine Co 313/aka “The Raccoon Lagoon”. I think he’s looking to do another year or two, which would put him over 70 years of age! Super safe climber, everything by the numbers. It was a pleasure working with him. Tom
