The Everlasting Gospel

This sermon was preached on 11/16/14 by Pastor Sam Adams at Independence Baptist Church in Belleview, Florida. This is the sixth of six sermons in the series "Heresies of C.I. Scofield." Bible text: Revelation 14:6; Isaiah 53:1-12. Revelation 14:6-7 states, "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

The explanation of this verse found in the Scofield Reference Bible proposes that this "everlasting" gospel is but one of four separate gospels preached in the New Testament, that Christ and the Apostle Paul preached very different gospels, and that this "everlasting" gospel in Rev. 14 is only to be preached for a short time at the end of the great tribulation period. We can imagine no greater perversion of the truth, no more damnable heresy, and no more absurd or ludicrous definition or application of the term "everlasting."

This sermon explains how and why the gospel preached by this angel in Revelation 14: 6-7 is the timeless and eternal message of the cross - the timeless and eternal message to which ALL men in EVERY age and era of human history will give an account.
