Walking tour: Walking along River Sava Embankment - Zagreb, Croatia - 4K UHD

On 25th of October 1964, a devastating flood of the River Sava struck Zagreb and large parts of lower city were submerged under water. Sava floods were a known hazard since Roman times and the 1964 flood was not the largest one - but it did occur after several decades of large-scale industrialization and urban growth which had caused the city to expand into the most flood-vulnerable areas. This event triggered the development of Sava embankment to prevent future floods. Along with this project, nearby swampy areas were turned into cultivated lakes and recreational areas so today this part of Zagreb serves mostly for leisure, sports and recreation activities. The embankment itself offers long trails on both sides and is used daily for jogging, walking, cycling etc. Zagreb is often criticized (mostly by locals themselves) for not integrating its river in the city life as there are kilometers of unused open space along Sava. But then again, here on the open banks of river Sava you can relax while looking at some rather epic scenery. And all you can hear is wind, birds and Zagreb’s murmur in the distance.

Use this video as virtual scenery with your treadmill workout, create interesting video wall in your office, waiting room, lounge, cafe etc. or simply relax and open a window to new places.
