Mundane Astrology and the Twilight of Pluto with John Michael Greer

Greetings, friends.

My guest today is author, astrologer, and druid John Michael Greer. Today we discuss his recently released book, The Twilight of Pluto, which has a singularly fascinating thesis and a singularly intriguing way of making sense of our modern madness.

The Twilight of Pluto is as interesting a book as I’ve read in a long time—and I read a lot of books.
It has singlehandedly inspired me to delve more deeply into astrology, specifically mundane astrology, which I find far more interesting than the usual horoscope and birth chart kind of stuff. Perhaps that’s because my personal time of birth has been lost to the dust bin of history, rendering me incapable of getting a proper birth chart done.

Really, though, I think I’m just a big picture guy who digs big picture perspectives. So, mundane astrology is the way for me.

One can never be quite certain what to expect when talking to professional druids, astrologers, and occultists. They are by nature outsiders—or heretics, as Greer likes to say that. Outsiders are my tribe, so there’s no problem there, but working in the weird sphere I’ve noticed a great deal of egomaniacs in these fringe spiritual spaces. That probably makes sense, really, because only people with strong senses of self are willing or capable of living outside the herd.

With Greer, though, that wasn’t an issue. He’s a down-to-Earth, humble, practical guy who is relaxed and fun to talk with. Where I come from, we’d call him a “good dude.”

I enjoyed the conversation immensely and hope that it wakes a lot of people up to Greer’s utterly fascinating thesis and perspective on our current chaotic times.

So, with no further ado, here is John Michael Greer discussing his recent work, The Twilight of Pluto.
