Why character traits matter 🧐

Just like all of us, characters often have traits or things that we associate with them. Whether it's a physical object (for example if you always carry around a cup of coffee), a dialogue pattern, or commonly used expressions (in my series, one character is known for constantly stating, 'there's more than one way to skin a cat'), or physical features (like someone who winks a lot) there should always be traits we can associate with characters.
