Sun Salutation and Sea Organ Installations - Sunset in Zadar, Croatia - 4K UHD

The famous director Alfred Hitchcock once said that Zadar is the city with the most beautiful sunset in the world and numerous tourists visiting Zadar each summer would surely agree. Its waterfront promenade (in Croatian called riva) faces west and therefore makes a perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of setting sun. What makes this experience truly unique in Zadar is an audio-visual installation composed of Sun Salutation (also known as Monument to the Sun or Greeting to the Sun) and the Sea Organ. The idea behind these two installations is to allow nature to speak for itself - through light (in Sun Salutation) and through sound (in Sea Organ). Both installations are designed by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić along with acoustic engineer Ivan Stamać (Sea organ). Sun Salutation represents the Solar system and consists of solar cell circles on the floor that, filled with sun energy, turn on at night and produce a light show. Sea Organ is unique in the world and the best way to describe it is to say that it is an instrument played by the sea itself. Literally and actually. :) The music is created by 35 pipes of different lengths and sizes built into the stone stairs along the pier and as the sea pushes air through them they form a wonderful melodic sound. As you can see and hear in this video, people from all over the world gather together to witness this beautiful union of human engineering and natural power.
