In the body of Christ, every individual plays a role in the kingdom of God.. In satans kingdom, he has his player's on this earth as well.. The Bible tells us that he, satan, is the "god" of this world and ruler of this world:

..."the god of this world"...
2 Corinthians 4:4

..."the ruler of this world"...

He's a created being, so He comes nowhere close to Thee Almighty, The Most High God, but he's trying really hard to defy the odds.. He wants to ultimately be in full control of every single individual on this earth, and he's been working towards that goal for a very long time.. The Bible says that for a short time (42 months), he will actually give his authority to a man, "the beast", and this beast will have authority over every tribe, tongue, and nation and the whole world will worship him:

"And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.
Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.
It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world"...
