A 7.3 magnitude earthquake derailed a high-speed bullet train on a bridge in northeastern Japan, destroyed buildings and has killed four and left more than 100 injured.
According to chief cabinet secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, thousands of Japanese households still had no power or water as of Thursday morning and residents were seen collecting water from outdoor taps.
The temblor revived memories of the March 11, 2011 disaster in the same area which caused a tsunami and a nuclear meltdown killing 18,000.
