The latest data shows unemployment rose in Kern County from 7.5% in December 2021 to 8.8% in January 2022. There are about 5,000 more people considered unemployed in Kern County this month compared to last month, but an economics professor explained that although we never want to see the unemployment rate rise, it misses another piece of the puzzle.
