A Ray of Light in a Very Dark World

I want to talk to you guys today about your daily mission?

You can put a lot of things into the category of your daily mission while you walk the earth but Matthew breaks it down into who you are not what you do?

Mat 5:13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 
Mat 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 
Mat 5:15  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. 
Mat 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 

Salt was a commodity that was actually used as money hundreds of years ago before the age of refrigeration. The term “ He's not worth his salt” comes from this era?

People would salt things like meat to keep them from spoiling, like beef jerky today?

Salt preserves, The Christian also preserves the earth, by us being about the Lords work pointing people to God. Without us the earth is rendered useless?

We are also Light and we are meant to shine for all those sitting in darkness who want to approach the light can do so?

The Demonic host hates the light as it exposes their efforts to keep people in darkness. Their goal is to cover our light with a bushel so it can't be seen.

The bushel is anything that will dim your light; people, places, or things?

Mat 5:19  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 

Do and teach means by your words and especially by your actions, is your light shining for all to see or has the demonic host managed to cover it with a bushel?
