The earliest megalodon fossils (Otodus megalodon, recently known as Carcharodon or Carcharocles megalodon) date to 20 million years prior. For the following 13 million years the gigantic shark overwhelmed the seas until becoming wiped out 3.6 million years prior.

O. megalodon was the greatest shark on the planet, however one of the biggest fish ever to exist. Gauges recommend it developed to somewhere in the range of 15 and 18 meters long, quite a bit longer than the biggest recorded extraordinary white shark.

Without a total megalodon skeleton, these figures depend on the size of the creature's teeth, which can arrive at 18 centimeters in length. The word megalodon basically signifies 'huge tooth, truth be told'. These teeth can let us know a ton, for example, what these enormous creatures ate.
