This heart-breaking video shows a talented British footballer left struggling to walk after being left in a coma following a single punch to the head in Australia.

The footage has been released by Danny Hodgson's devastated parents ahead of his 17-year-old attacker's appearance in court on Friday.

The video shows the brave 26-year-old lad taking a few steps while being held up by specialist medical staff and wearing a protective helmet.

He suffered a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage following the single punch blow at Perth train station on September 5, last year.

They said: “On Sunday, September 5 2021, our world was shattered when we learned that our son Danny Hodgson had been rushed to hospital following an unprovoked attack at the Perth Train Station.

"It was a single moment in time that would not only alter the course of his life, but the lives of all those who know and love him.

“This Friday, March 18 the person who irrevocably changed Danny’s future through an unimaginable act of violence will be sentenced."
