Walt Heyer is an American author and speaker who underwent gender reassignment and lived for eight years as a transgender woman before detransitioning in 1991.

Walt shared his message at The Ruth Institute 4th Annual Summit. His message on how his gender incongruence wasn't because he was in the wrong body, but because of the three people who he loved turned around and abused him. It all began with a purple dress.
