street dogs in the part of the world have never been given the same respect as the pet dogs. the street dogs have been really struggling in their day to day life. Many dogs are abandoned and neglected and they find their way to shelters where they wait for love to find them. Some people throw stones on the street dogs, some people go extreme and do even beat them. Except in India, nowhere else do animal activists promote homelessness of dogs with such enthusiasm and ignorance. Terms like ‘community’ and ‘Indian’ dogs are thrown about to obfuscate the issue and the term ‘homeless dog’ is avoided at all cost. However, this does not change reality. ‘Making a case for stray dogs’ is akin to making a case for misery and suffering by pretending it is a virtue. The index also said that 85 per cent of companion animals in India are homeless.in the last 6-7 years the number [of street dogs] has gone up because now breeding of dogs is happening and every time animals are bred the number of homeless animals rise. Though India has dog breeding rules, it came 20 years late. If enforced earlier, India would have had much less street dogs. According to the report, there are 7.5 crore estimated homeless cats and dogs in China, 4.8 crore in the US, 20.6 lakh in Germany, 20 lakh in Greece, 74 lakh in Mexico, 41 lakh each in Russia and South Africa, and 11 lakh in the UK. we would request each and everyone to provide shelter to the street dogs and treat them equally as pet dogs.
