Peter gives us some rare truth in 1 Peter 1:9-12 that is never mentioned by Paul; that while the Old Testament prophets wrote and prophesied about our great salvation, they did not fully understand even what they wrote about it; and further, the angels of heaven also "desire to look into" this great salvation - no doubt with wonder, amazement and baffled astonishment at the great mercy and grace of a great God who would go to such great lengths to redeem such wretchedly rebellious, ungrateful, and wicked creatures as fallen man, who had once been created in God's image...
