There are a lot of bushcraft fire-starting videos out there, but before you learn how to use flint and steel, make char cloth, work a bow drill, or polish a beer can into a fire-starting mirror, focus on the basics of just getting a fire to start. And always carry the most efficient fire-starting methods you can. You can spend a weekend out camping and building fires only with flint and steel, but if there is an emergency, you will be awfully glad you packed that lighter.

Factor 85 Labs is about sharing the things I enjoy, in a practical way that works for dads and families. Every day is an experiment, and I am sharing what I am learning about practical ways to balance my interests and hobbies with the ever-changing life of a dad with small kids. DIY, EDC, cooking, reviews, first aid, whatever the day brings, I figure out what I think is a practical approach, and share that with you.
