Anthony Fauci speaks truth bombs: NIH/NIAID funds gain-of-function research (2012 video)

Here Anthony Fauci, who is the Director of the US federal National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) which is itself part of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), speaks from the rostrum of an academic or policy conference. In this undated post-2011 [1-3] video clip, Anthony Fauci defends the NIH/NIAID funding of both scientists.

In fact, Fauci brags about "so many of the other gain-of-function research that we do".

Intermixed with the clip of the academic conference is a passage from Senator Rand Paul's May 2021 interrogation of Fauci, in which the latter states categorically the "NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research." Fauci brazenly says to Paul: "I will repeat again: the NIH and NIAID categorically has not funded gain-of-function research."

It seems that the only way he did not lie was if he was trained to split hairs.
