This is Rooming house with 5,500 square feet, on prime property with 2.2 acres. Buck Minster Fuller built and designed the exterior. They designed the exterior of the house to put up with 140-knot winds with up to four inches of ice. It is located halfway between Chambersburg and Gettysburg, next to State Forest, on top of the mountain. Property in this area alone is worth over $60,000 an acre. It is registered as a bed-and-breakfast from the state of Pennsylvania.

The dome has a large steel foundation upon which the dome was installed with 6-inch concrete slab floor in the basement. This house was built back in 1997. The exterior is completely independent of the interior when it comes to support. The house itself has 17 rooms, some large, some small. Also included is a large kitchen. A large front room which we call the Great Room. The Great Room has a ceiling height of almost 30 feet. It has a large stone fireplace that is approximately 6 feet wide by almost 30 feet tall. The stones are actually made of a concrete product. It has an LP gas fireplace. Behind the stone is an accessible space. Much of the plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling runs in this space.

A dome has 1/3 more living space than a conventional house. There is a large Jacuzzi on the second floor, which is not being used at this time. The basement is a walkout basement. This house has never experienced flooding since it was built. Many of the rooms are empty.

There are some issues with the house. Most of the leaking has been fixed, but the large windows that are in the main room should be replaced. After they are replaced, the great room could be repaired for about $5,000. It is central heating and air conditioning with LP. The exterior air conditioner compressor is not working at this time. There is also a large nice wood stove in the basement. The chimney is an 8-inch double-walled stainless steel chimney that runs through the top of the dome.

The exterior should be re-coated or covered with some new type of material. We just have not figured out exactly with what. All rooms have been reconditioned except for the main bedroom at the very top of the dome. It is in the process of being refurbished. There is also a two-car garage that is over 25 feet deep.
