Nehemiah was a government worker in a foreign administration—a high-ranking one, no doubt. A leader. A cupbearer to the King. Trusted and respected. Nehemiah is an excellent example of biblical leadership for us all. He faced an overwhelming task, many obstacles, and naysayers, and accomplished what seemed impossible through prayer, by leaning on God, and getting involved to make a difference.

America is still the freest, and the most prosperous country on earth. But for how long? That's up to us. Ronald Reagan famously stated, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction."

Now, more than ever, we must anchor ourselves in the Word of God; it will provide us with a firm foundation in an uncertain culture. Rick reminds us to seek God in prayer, to open our Bibles to fill our hearts with His truth, and to look up to remind ourselves that God is with us.
