Unbeknownst to Ben, his crane truck would become centre stage and a voice for freedom at the Ottawa #FreedomConvoy and around the world.

Everyday, speakers from all walks of life, professions and ages, came to support and echo the message of the truckers to end all mandates. But, over the course of the days, the messaging united and evolved beyond Covid and the vaccines and resonated around the world.

Ben’s truck was a megaphone for the rally cry heard around the world, on social media and TVs, for freedom.

After being touched by countless stories of what the truckers came to represent, Ben yielded to the pleas to continue the fight for freedom. His weekend stay at the intersection of Wellington and Metcalfe in front of Parliament Hill turned into weeks and ended in being pepper sprayed on the final day of police violence against peaceful protesters.

Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act, a brutal overreach being condemned around the world, only made poignant the stand took by the Freedom Convoy and amplified the symbol of freedom that Ben’s makeshift stage came to be.
