My college buddies and I tossed frisbees, footballs and baseballs till our arms fell off. And more than just play, we talked about our families, faith and careers. We were inseparable but after college we all moved, got married, began our own businesses and slowly drifted apart.

I’ve had rock-climbing buddies, biking, movie watching, and business best friends. We’ve laughed, cried and broken lots of bread together but then life goes on, and many times we too, go on, and may not talk to each other for many years.

But through every season of victory, defeat, growth or decline I’ve had one always constant, best friend, and he's always been at my side. And his name is Jesus.

Every morning when I awake, Jesus is right there beside me, there with me, to say hello. He loves it when I hear his gentle call and loves it even more when we get a chance to have a cup of coffee, talk and be together. What a best friend!

Throughout the day, my companion Jesus walks with me wherever I go. He counsels me when I let him and is always there when I need him – but he’s never in my face pushing his agenda or telling me what to do. How cool is a friend like that!

When I see a beautiful sky, smell a flower or my soul moves with the magic of music, my Jesus delights that I’m delighted. He laughs with me and I get the joy of sharing my happiness with him – which makes the experience even better!

If dark clouds of sickness, loneliness or fear try to descend around me, I find comfort with my confidant who overcame the very worst that this world could throw at him.

He’s with me, but even more so, he’s holding my hand – quietly there, telling me the one thing that has never – never ever changed… That he loves me.

It’s a great day to simply to say hello to Jesus. He cannot wait to talk with you!
