Political Islam in the News – March 2022

• Egypt is trying to pass laws that will help reduce wife beating. These laws will be difficult to enforce since the Koran and the Sunna allow it. It is culturally unacceptable for the wife to go to police.
• In Iran a man grinned as he held his wife’s head in his hand along with a knife. His brother and her father helped in the honor killing.
• An Afghan refugee claimed Sharia law allowed sexual assault of a 3-year-old girl.
• In India some Muslims say that women can be raped for not wearing a hijab.
