The very beginning of Penitentiaries in the United States, or so some say. Some would also say one of the most haunted sites in the United States. I don't know about that, however, it was a great place to visit and if you get an opportunity to do so, we highly recommend it.
Eastern State had many unique features to it, and we touch on them with this deep dive into the history of the prison.
