Representative Ayanna Pressley Calls for "Unrest in the Streets"

On August 15, 2020, Democrat Representative Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts stated:

"There needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives, and unfortunately, there’s plenty to go around"

This was during a summer of heated demonstrations over racial justice and police brutality, which have in some cities led to riots and mass destruction. In Portland, protesters repeatedly attacked a federal courthouse with fireworks and other explosives. Rioters in Chicago broke into and looted stores along the city’s Magnificent Mile and damaged the exterior of a local charity.

Other riots occurred across the nation from Los Angeles, CA to Louisville, KY to New York City, Baltimore, MD, Kenosha, WI and many more. According to the Major Cities Chiefs Association, 574 riots took place across America between May 25 and July 31 of 2020, causing more than $2 billion in damages.
