Daniel Markert – The Ukrainian Situation

Daniel Markert is ANOTHER of Pete A Turner's seasoned bank of COLs who are ready to talk about the Ukranian situation with Russia.

Colonel (retired) Daniel Markert was commissioned a US Army infantry officer in 1991 through ROTC at Claremont McKenna College. He served in command and staff positions from the platoon level to the division level in both combat operations in Afghanistan and domestic emergency response operations in support of civil authorities.

He has served as an advisor to foreign security forces for combat operations, security cooperation, and led joint task forces for domestic emergency response operations to civil authorities. His domestic support operations include riots, floods, earthquakes, wildfires, and the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Daniel has led the California National Guard in the use of information technology, data automation, and geospatial visualization for situational awareness and command decision making. He and his teams have been sent to other state National Guard and federal and state interagency partners to assist in the development of cost-effective emergency situational awareness technologies.

Daniel has a BA in International Relations from Claremont McKenna College and an MS in Emergency and Disaster Management from Trident University and is a graduate of the US Air Force Air War College. Daniel is currently Vice President of Risk Management Operations for a wildfire technology startup in Silicon Valley.
