An armed citizenry can be very persuasive

This 2014 standoff was an armed confrontation between supporters of cattle rancher Cliven Bundy and law enforcement in Clark County, Nevada.

I observed that the ranchers on horseback as well as those who were on foot, none of them were carrying a firearm as they approached the militarized arm of the BLM. If those BLM enforcers wanted to stop the civilians they would have to use force and that would have set off those in the distance who were armed. I don't believe the BLM had the stomach for a shootout that day, with so many armed civilians who probably have more trigger-time under their belts than many of those enforcers for the BLM.
