Schwabian dystopia: Yuval Noah Hariri conjures his ideal transhumanist future

Credit Instagram's @michaelkane.tfc with these clips of an Israeli academic named Yuval Noah Hariri, see [0], who has starred in one of our past episodes. Amazingly, outlets of the MSM let Hariri write on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as if his academic specialty (history) were engaged. Hariri, who has a husband, is particularly enamoured [0] of his own sentence: "History began when humans invented gods, and will end when humans become gods." He speaks here of humans as "hackable animals", on the strength of biological knowledge, computing power and big data.

Here Hariri gives a keynote speech at the 50th World Economic Forum event in Davos, Switzerland. He talks about the "hackability of the human animal" like a true imbecile. The ability to convince an academic recruitment committee with a tissue of papers quite literally bears no relationship to concrete life. He has leapt from academia to public notoriety on the strength of a few books in which he explores themes of "free will, consciousness, intelligence, happiness and suffering." A critic wrote in The New Yorker that "Harari did not invent Big History, but he updated it with hints of self-help and futurology, as well as a high-altitude, almost nihilistic composure about human suffering."

A book reviewer observes "how surprisingly little he seems to have read on quite a number of essential topics. It would be fair to say that whenever his facts are broadly correct they are not new, and whenever he tries to strike out on his own he often gets things wrong, sometimes seriously... We should not judge [the book] as a serious contribution to knowledge but as 'infotainment', a publishing event to titillate its readers by a wild intellectual ride across the landscape of history, dotted with sensational displays of speculation..." in other words he is no better than a mediocre science fiction writer with the talent to hoodwink some expense account yuppies into a frenzy of euphoric delirium.

You have been warned, internet friends: this is the intellectual calibre of the hucksters who are promoted by those who are above you on the food chain of the WEF. People like Justin Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland and Pierre Poilievre.
