Perry: The media class and the wealth class of the country are aligned with this interest. So arguments that are like Defund is a bad idea can sort of run through the rest of the media really quickly in part because the media, the editorial boards, the biggest columnist morning joe, all those people are in position to sort of reinforce those arguments. like defund is bad seem natural to those people. wokeness is killing the democrats seem natural to people because they don't like their woke employees. Like this is so in some ways the left's problem is that the center narratives are going to be repeated in the media and repeated by the big donors and repeated by Michael Bloomberg's. And I think that's the problem is that eric Adams against Maya Wiley is kind of not a fair fight because Maya Wiley's arguments can be cast as crazy and left and Eric Adams in the press like most voters are not particularly ideological and don't know what's going on. So they're gonna so whoever becomes the sort of regular democratic candidate who the sort of democratic machine supports will get voters on both the progressive and the centrist side. but if that but if the messages the regular democrats are sort of closer to Hakeem Jeffries or closer to josh and AOC is kind of not a regular democrat that's a disadvantage for AOC.
Sam: Let me I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna harp on this point about the consultants. because I think you know your point. They need to be able to work, they need to be mercenary on some level if they want to make their money. but there is an argument that the nature of a progressive candidacy ends up putting less money into the pocket of a company. because of the nature of the way that they maybe might be more grassroots oriented less tv buys. I mean it's just the way that these things are structured.
Emma: Sorry just to add like the black there's there's a blacklisting element of it too that you know went down. Where there like you know there's an understanding say if you work with somebody who's primarily a sitting Democrat that you're less likely to get work with the rest of these Democratic candidates going forward.
