In a 2015 Washington Post Opinion article, Fiona Hill warned the US was pushing Russia toward war

Famous for her role in the first impeachment trial of Donald Trump, former National Security Council member Fiona Hill, warned that the US arming of Ukraine could lead to a Russian invasion. As the media and Establishment act perplexed by the "impulsive" actions of madman Vladimir Putin, they have always known, or perhaps even hoped for such an action. This is another bit of evidence that the Establishment had a larger hand to play in this current crisis then they would like to admit.
