The IPA's Gideon Rozner says businesses calling for larger emissions cuts is driven by profits.
This comes as The Australian reports the Australian Industry Group, which represents 60,000 businesses, is pushing for an extension of net zero targets of 50 per cent by 2030.
"A lot of this is driven by the fact that a lot of bigger businesses profit from this," Mr Rozner said.
"Not through providing energy and products to their customers but via subsidies."
