U S , Russia clash over Ukraine at UNSC meeting

At UNSC meeting on Ukraine, Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya angrily accused the United States of "whipping up hysteria" and that the U.S. had brought "pure Nazis" to power on Russia's border, while the U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said, Russia was "attempting, without any factual basis, to paint Ukraine and Western countries as the aggressors to fabricate a pretext for attack."

Russian Ambassador further stated that the United States itself was "provoking escalation" by falsely charging Moscow with preparations to invade Ukraine.

The confrontation was rather sharp in years at the UNSC.
