Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) of Pakistan had recommended Rs 11 per litre increase in petrol price and Rs 14 per litre increase in diesel price, besides raising the prices of almost all other petroleum products, with effect from 1st February.
Increase in petroleum prices would have been a shock for the general public who are already suffering due to huge inflation in the country.
Taking into account the larger public interest, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has rejected the recommendations of OGRA and has directed that prices of petroleum products be kept at the current level.
