Largest financial seizure ever in the United States

The United States has seized $3.6 billion in Bitcoin stolen during a 2016 hacking and arrested two people, Ilya Lichtenstein and his wife Heather Morgan, the Justice Department of the U.S. said.

According to Bloomberg, the accused are alleged to have conspired to launder 119,754 Bitcoins stolen after a hacker breached Bitfinex's system.

It is a largest financial seizure ever, said Lisa Monaco, the Deputy Attorney General. She further added that cryptocurrency is not a safe haven for criminals.
