At a special meeting of the Ottawa Police Services (OPS) Board, Steve Bell, deputy chief of police, and Trish Ferguson, acting deputy chief, provide an update on the OPS response to ongoing protests in the city’s downtown. Board chair Diane Deans confirms at the start of the meeting that Peter Sloly has resigned as Ottawa's police chief. Deputy Chief Bell will be interim chief until further notice. The meeting comes one day following the federal government's decision to invoke the Emergencies Act in response to protests and blockades taking place across the country. (February 15, 2022)
