"Ending the Terror"
35th in our series the Book of 1 Peter

I. The Reason Why - 1 Peter 3:10-12
A. We pursue the six virtues - 1 Peter 3:8-9
1. Be of One Mind
2. Have compassion for one another
3. Love as brothers
4. Be tenderhearted
5. Be courteous, that is be humble
6. Do not engage in paybacks, but blessing
B. If we love life and seek God’s blessing
1. There are many who do not love life - Proverbs 8:36
2. But those who are blessed by God - Psalm 1:1-3
C. We will obey three specific commands of our Lord
1. Refrain the tongue from evil and guile - James 3:1-10
2. Set our attitude and actions clearly against evil
3. Seek and pursue peace - Romans 12:18
D. Knowing our Lord’s blessing is on all who do these things
1. His eyes and His ears are on the righteous for blessing
2. But He opposes all who do evil

II. Showing Terror the Door - 1 Peter 3:13-14
A. The harm the evil doers seek to accomplish will backfire
1. If we are martyred for Christ, we receive great reward
2. Blessed are those who are persecuted - Matthew 5:10
B. Terror can only inhabit hearts that do not fear God -
1. The wicked is taken before the king of terrors - Job 18:14
2. The Fear of the Lord is a fountain of Life - Proverbs 14:27
