Raccoon (Procyon lotor), is a medium-sized mammal native to North America. The raccoon is the largest species in the family Procyonidae, measuring 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in) in body length and 3.5 to 9 kg (8 to 20 lb) in weight. The skin consists of thick gray hair to prevent the entry of cold air into the body. This animal is known for its very agile claws and facial masks which are included in one of the mythological themes of several Native American tribes. Raccoons are known for their intelligence, with studies showing that these animals can remember solutions to problems for up to 3 years. Raccoons are omnivores, usually nocturnal, their diet consists of about 40% invertebrates, 33% plants and 27%.
