If you still don't know this breed of dog, you don't have to worry anymore. We have prepared a guide with everything you need to know about it, such as its main physical characteristics, temperament, care and even how much a Cane Corso costs. See below and fall in love with this dogão!

What is the origin of the Cane Corso dog breed?
The Cane Corso (or Cani Corso) is a breed originally from Italy. It shares a common ancestor with the Italian Mastiff: the Canix Pugnax, which was one of the most popular dogs during the Roman Empire period, but has since become extinct. Because of this, the Cane Corso and the Mastiff have some similarities and many people get to confuse them.

Like its ancestor, the Cane Corso was created primarily to fight turf wars and fight potential invaders. It sided with the Roman army for a long time, and thanks to its history in battles, many people believed the race to be aggressive and brave, but its behavior today is far from that.

It is also worth noting that he almost went extinct in Italy after World War II, but some breeders in love with these dogs managed to save the breed. That's how the Cane Corso came to be known in several other places in the world. In 1996, the puppy was officially recognized by the FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale). The arrival of the Cane Corso in Brazil is a very unusual story: presenter Fausto Silva fell in love with the breed after meeting it on a trip and requested some copies for the country. The puppies, straight from Rome, have conquered many Brazilians since then.

Cane Corso: size, colors and the main physical characteristics of the breed
If you've ever seen a picture of a Cane Corso, giant is the word that best defines the size of this breed. This is a large dog that can reach a height between 60 cm and 72 cm and weigh between 45 to 50 kg. They are very muscular dogs with a robust and elegant appearance at the same time.

Another thing that draws a lot of attention in the Cane Corso: fur colors! This little dog has a coat of a certain variety of colors that will delight anyone. To give you an idea, we have separated all the options of shades that can cover this dog's fur:

• Black Cane Corso
• Cane Corso gray
• Cane Corso red
• Cane Corso brown
• Cane Corso blue
• Cane Corso brindle

Some people are also interested in the white Cane Corso, but this is a more difficult dog to find and is not recognized by the official breed standard. Still on the coat, the Cane Corso has short, rough and hard coats that are easy to care for on a daily basis and don't need a lot of attention.
