Ep. 30 – Fire, Aim, Ready! The Risk of Emotionalism in "Our" Advocacy.

With all of the attacks on sportsmen's values and opportunities these days by animal activists and/or anti-hunting organizations, pro-hunting advocacy from the sportsmen community is on the rise. Incredibly so. But exactly what IS the nature of our advocacy? Is it reasoned? Is it balanced? Is it thoughtful? Or is it based purely on emotion – the same type of emotion we criticize the activist organizations for? And what about dialog and advocacy/opposition to ideas within the sportsmen's community? Again, is it reasoned and balanced, or is it fired from emotion? In this episode, Chris goes through four examples of current events (in his own life and elsewhere) where sportsmen have – at least in some ways – triggered off of emotion, and thrust their personal advocacy into the public forum in what often seems like a "Fire, Aim, Ready!" manner. ...a manner that quite likely represents a losing strategy for all of us in the long run.
