Positive thoughts! What if there was an easy secret to having more positive thoughts throughout every day? Imagine how that would rock your world!

What if, instead of grumbling, "Oh God it's morning," you could wake up singing, "Praise God for a new day!" Or, what if instead of complaining about the people in your life, you were thankful you even had people in your life!

Let's discover the secret to positive thoughts by starting at the beginning! The beginning of every day, by asking an easy question: "What are your very first thoughts when you wake up?"

Most people say,
“I think about work.”
“I grab my phone.”
“I wish I could sleep longer.”
“I don’t think of anything.”
“I thank God for loving me.”

Studies show that people who start the day happy or calm typically stay that way throughout the day, but those who start on the wrong foot rarely climb out of their hole.

The secret is all in how you start! I was at a weekend baseball tournament and a coach told his players, “You can’t win them all unless you win the first one.” He was right on…. It’s all in how you start.

Likewise, in track, football or just about any sport, the guy who makes the fastest start - the guy who is the most explosive - he is the one who makes the catch, determines the play, and the one who usually wins!

The point is that starting the right way is everything.

When we wake up and spend our first moments of the day with God – it means that we start our day by winning the first one! Jesus even modeled this for us, because he got up before daybreak and went out alone to pray.

Spending time alone – but still with God – gives us the opportunity to set the course for our day. We get to thank God. We get to gain his strength. We get to re-set our perspective. We get to think about others from God’s point of view.
