The Ackermann Theory of Whole Child Development

In the child development process, there are many aspects of human potential that must be closely attended to.

Apart from curiosity and intelligence, children may want to develop creativity, confidence, generosity, intuition, passion, resilience, intuition, mindfulness, humour, and several other important traits.

Rather than splitting children into a collection of 4-8 skills, like social, emotional and so forth, the Ackermann theory identified four natural urges that drive our growth throughout childhood into adult life. These are: Being Me, Us, the World, and Human Creations.
