A simple groove in 5/4, playing triplets as a double bass drum pattern with the back beat on 4 of every bar which is one of many ways to play a groove in 5/4. And just like using only beat 3, by using only beat 4, it helps to smooth out the odd time signature enough that it doesn't sound as though the groove is "falling off of a log" all the time. I used quarter notes on the hi hat for 16 bars and then used half notes on a China Boy cymbal, in a manner of "Rhythmic Resolution", the half note "resolving" on the down beat of every odd bar. The click settings are 140, 160, 180, 200 220 bpm. #mikemccraw #drummermikemccraw #drumcavedave #dominoretroplate
