Scenic Mt Shasta - Pluto's Cave

A virtual hike to and through Pluto's Cave, some 25 miles north of Mount Shasta City, California, USA.

Pluto's Cave is a partially collapsed lave tube. The trail to the cave is poorly marked, but the cave is not too far from the parking area, maybe 1 mile or so. It's important to bring a flashlight: going into the cave it appears as if there is enough light to navigate the big boulders, but this is deceiving, on the way out those will present itself as one big black mass and a light is necessary to illuminate the rocks and find a passage over them. I didn't have sufficient light to enter deep into the second pitch-black section of the cave.
