Why is the U.S. still sending money to Russia?

There are many things about the war in Ukraine that do not make sense. The whole situation feels off, and part of it might be because, despite the US issuing sanctions against Russia, those sanctions don't include oil imports. When you break it down as simple as possible, consider that the US has the ability to not only produce our own oil here, but to also supply European countries with oil. That would cripple Putin's finances for his war against Ukraine. So the question is, why don't we do that?
