Tributes have been paid to a divorced couple who were both stabbed to death 15 miles apart
Tributes have been paid to a divorced couple who were both stabbed to death - 15 miles apart.
The police murder probe is continuing into the deaths of Clive Warrington, 67, and Valerie Warrington, 73, a former married couple who were living apart.
Mr Warrington was found dead at 6.25am on Wednesday in Cheltenham, Glos., while the body of his ex wife was discovered a short while later at a property in Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds.
A man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of murder and police were today (Thurs) granted a 12-hour custody extension limit to question him, which will now expire on Thursday morning.
And shocked friends have started to pay tribute to the victims and expressed their horror at what happened.
This included surgeon Charlie Chan worked, who worked with Ms Warrington for 13 years at Cheltenham General Hospital, where she was his personal assistant.
Writing on Facebook, he said: "I am totally heartbroken at this news.
"Val was my PA for 13 years and we shared lots of happy times. Clive did work on our house and I watched their kids grow up.
"What has the world come to?"
Mr Chan also came to lay flowers outside her house today.
Speaking afterwards he he laid the floral tribute, he added: "Val became my secretary in 2000 when I first came to Cheltenham and we worked together until 2013 when I left and Val went to work in the cardiology department.
"In fact she still was still working in the cardiology department until the sad events of Tuesday morning.
"She was just the most lovely person, kind, caring, loyal, always smiling and actually nothing was ever too much trouble.
"She always put others first, which was true at work and in the family."
Speaking at an earlier press conference, Supt Roddy Gosden, of Gloucestershire Police, said the man was known to the victims and they were not currently looking for anyone else.
He added: "A man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with both deaths, which are being linked by detectives.
"The victims were known to him and officers are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the ongoing investigation.
"Family members have been informed and our thoughts go out to them at this devastating time. They are now receiving support from specially trained officers.
"This has been a challenging situation and we will be providing support to officers and all those who have been impacted by these incidents.
"Understandably people will be shocked to hear that two lives have been lost in such a tragic way.
"Over the coming days, officers will be in the local communities to provide reassurance and we would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to us."
He added that cordons will remain in place over the coming days and urged anyone with information to get in contact.
