Author Gerald Muro has had his first commercial success as a novelist. Though he is finally seeing significant royalties for his work, he is frustrated to have sacrificed his literary integrity to find success with what he considers a hack job. He moves to the small mountain town of Mossy Rock to start his new life as a published author, with hopes of reaching new heights with his work and his fresh start. His agent, Lincoln Cobretti, the one who first suggested that Gerald lower his storytelling brow to find an audience, is elated to have gotten the work sold, and having already partied all of his earnings away, is pushing Gerald to write the sequel. He follows Gerald to Mossy Rock to help keep the fires burning of what he hopes to be a long and profitable partnership. Mossy Rock is a haunted town.
